A Cartoon in Kolkatta

Delusion is slowly replacing euphoria in West Bengal. Didi is turning out to be a more of a campaigner against Communists than being a CM of a state. Marx and Bolshevism are out of Bengal texts; rapes are conspiracies to malign Mamata; hiking train fare affects poor, when poor themselves are not opposing it ( didi is also opposition leader, she thinks, and acts like one); libraries are issued diktat to keep only certain newspapers to breed free thinking in the society -  i wonder from where free thinking Dinesh Trivedi got his lessons.

Now, a cartoon by a professor has enraged her. I guess even Indira Gandhi tolerated cartoons during emergency.  If she abhors communists so much, first thing she has to do is to stop acting like a Chinese communist first.

She is scripting her downfall  rather fast. Bengali society  has always stood against tyranny, and has expressed it through all art forms. Being an artist herself, she would have respected that expression of ‘free thinking’. Suppressing freedom of expression is suicidal in this age of free flow of information.

Living in small home should actually make one think big, but it seems, didi’s thoughts are getting narrower as her hold on absolute power gets stronger.

I had read many good things about Mamatha like simple living, care for rural and poor, having the guts to take against a party of 30+ years ruling even though there was a murder attemp against her etc etc. But, amazed to see how she has changed after coming to POWER…

Politicians are good people when they are in opposition.
